    The Center for Gender-Affirming Care, treats children and adolescents with gender dysphoria and related issues. Their mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, up-to-date care and support to transgender and gender diverse youth and their families.

    Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is a welcoming and open environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. They are committed to providing comprehensive health care services, including the full range of adult, women’s and men’s services, as well as connecting individuals with HIV or hepatitis to screenings and treatment, Gay Men’s Health Services including PrEP and PEP, Transgender Health Services, prenatal services and pediatric care and more.

  • Our Safe Place (San Diego Youth Services)
    Provides mental health services and drop-in centers for LGBTQ youth up to age 21 and their families. Services include: advocacy services, alcohol and drug abuse, building and support  network, coming out, depression, anxiety and trauma, family relationships, gender identity, individualized support, sexual health, safe dating, school and work support, transitioning.

  • Gay Men's Health Services (Family Health Centers of San Diego)
    They are committed to providing excellent service and support to the diverse populations in San Diego’s LGBTQ community. As part of Family Health Centers of San Diego, they are one of the largest providers of comprehensive HIV prevention, outreach, testing and support services in the county. They also offer LGBTQ health services such as programs specifically designed for gay men of color, PrEP navigation, transgender-informed health care, as well as free and confidential HIV testing.

  • Trans for PrEP San Diego (County of San Diego Health and Human Services)
    Services include assistance with barriers to accessing health and social services, case management, monitored hormone therapy, support for transition-related issues, supportive services for those at-risk for HIV and STDs, HIV prevention using PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis).

Pregnant and Parenting Teen Resources

  • San Diego Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (SANDAPP)
    SANDAPP provides case management services to pregnant and parenting youth throughout San Diego County. Three case managers are out-stationed at the following school and community sites: Garfield High School, Victoria Summit Community School in San Ysidro, Chula Vista PMP, Grossmot High School, Twain High School, Lindsay Blended Community School, and the Public Health Nurse Center in Oceanside. SANDAPP’s goals are to improve health outcomes for pregnant and parenting adolescents and their children; increase the rate of high school graduation; enhance parenting skills; prevent child abuse, neglect and family violence; promote youth development; and assist to prevent second unplanned pregnancies. Services are provided to both female and male teen parents.

  • California School-Age Families Education Program (CalSAFE)You can participate if you are expecting a baby (mothers and fathers), are a teen parent, have not graduated from high school and live within San Diego Unified School District's boundaries. CalSAFE's goals are to provide expectant and parenting teens with support services while completing their education, provide resources to assist expectant and parenting teens plan for their future, provide care and early education for their infants and toddlers, among others.

  • Safely Surrendered Baby Law
    The Safely Surrendered Baby Law responds to the increasing number of newborn infant deaths due to abandonment in unsafe locations. The law's intent is to save lives of newborn infants at risk of abandonment by encouraging parents or person with lawful custody to safely surrender the infant within 72 hours of birth, with no questions asked. Safe surrender sites are hospitals or other locations, typically fire stations, approved by the board of supervisors or fire agency in each county.

  • San Diego Youth Services
    We help kids in danger. We offer emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelter, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. Professional help for high-risk youth is provided in 80 community locations. Services include adoption support, anti-bullying awareness and support, child sex trafficking awareness and recovery, foster care, homeless housing and support, juvenile delinquency diversion and intervention, mental health, suicide prevention and intervention.
