To qualify students must: Be enrolled full-time in high school as a senior or be a part-time or full-time student in a college, graduate school, trade school, or coding bootcamp. Submit a 400- to 600-word essay on the prompt specified below.

The Phyliss J. McCarthy Scholarship for Excellence in Writing

Applicants will be asked to choose from three writing prompts provided, responding in 2000 words or fewer to compete for a grand prize of $1,000 that can help with college application costs, test-taking fees, college visits, or first-year college expenses. Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors. Contest open to both domestic and international students. Submissions must be the student's original work and not published elsewhere.
