Distinguished Young Women of San Diego County is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. Cash scholarships are awarded at the local level and millions in college-granted scholarships are available ($1 billion nationally). And local winners will advance to the state program in Bakersfield, California where they give away more than $35,000 in cash tuition scholarships. And it’s FREE to participate! You must be a junior in high school to participate.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

The awardees, JRF Scholars, will receive grants of up to $35,000 over four years to complement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. Applicants should be minority high school seniors able to present evidence of financial need. They should demonstrate a record of academic excellence, leadership potential, and a dedication to community service. Applicants are asked to submit test scores, a letter of recommendation, and four essays.

Better Brothers LA assists Black LGBTQ+ youth with the cost of college and all its expenses. Filling out their Common Scholarship Application can provide San Diego students access to more than 100 scholarship opportunities. National Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship

National Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Awards is for students completing twelfth grade (or final high school year) in 2024 who are planning careers in government service. Scholarship applicants must be citizens of the United States. Each interested student is invited to write a one-page essay stating why he or she plans a career in government service including any inspiration to be derived from the leadership of George Washington in his famous crossing of the Delaware. This essay must be accompanied by a recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor evaluating the student’s achievements, along with transcripts, national testing scores, and other supporting information of the applicant’s choice as described in the Official Rules.

Technology Addiction Scholarship

The Andy Grove Scholarship for Intel Employees’ Children will help children of employees further their education via a competitive scholarship program that will help contribute toward the cost of post-high school (post upper secondary school) studies at accredited universities or institutions. The Princeton Prize in Race Relations

The Princeton Prize in Race Relations identifies and recognizes high school students who, through action and service, have demonstrated leadership in advancing racial equity, promoting racial understanding, or eliminating racial bias and prejudice in their schools and communities.
Prize recipients receive a cash prize of $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid weekend to a Symposium on Race at Princeton University, where they will meet and engage with other Prize recipients from across the country.

The American Water Inclusion and Diversity Scholarship is awarding scholarships of $10,000 each to students in the states where American Water operates. The Scholarship is designed to support the educational aspirations of students who represent lived experiences and backgrounds that are underrepresented in the utility industry and who value the advancement of inclusion and diversity in all aspects of society.
